radioativo<\/a>\u00a0artificial\u00a0de cobalto com uma\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nuclear-power.com\/nuclear-power\/reactor-physics\/atomic-nuclear-physics\/radioactive-decay\/radioactive-decay-law\/half-life\/\">meia-vida<\/a>\u00a0de\u00a0<strong>5,2747 anos<\/strong>\u00a0.\u00a0\u00c9 produzido sinteticamente pela ativa\u00e7\u00e3o de cobalto-59 em n\u00eautrons em\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nuclear-power.com\/nuclear-power-plant\/nuclear-reactor\/\">reatores nucleares<\/a>\u00a0.\u00a0O cobalto-60 \u00e9 uma fonte de calibra\u00e7\u00e3o comum encontrada em muitos laborat\u00f3rios.\u00a0O espectro gama tem\u00a0<strong>dois picos significativos<\/strong>\u00a0, um em\u00a0<strong>1173,2 keV<\/strong>\u00a0e outro em\u00a0<strong>1332,5 keV<\/strong>\u00a0.\u00a0Bons detectores de cintila\u00e7\u00e3o devem ter resolu\u00e7\u00e3o adequada para separar os dois picos.\u00a0Para os\u00a0<strong>detectores HPGe<\/strong>\u00a0, esses picos s\u00e3o perfeitamente separados.<\/p>\n<p>Como pode ser visto na figura, existem dois\u00a0<strong>fotopicos de raios gama<\/strong>\u00a0.\u00a0Ambos os detectores tamb\u00e9m mostram resposta nas energias mais baixas, causadas pelo\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nuclear-power.com\/nuclear-power\/reactor-physics\/interaction-radiation-matter\/interaction-gamma-radiation-matter\/compton-scattering\/\"><strong>espalhamento de Compton<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0, dois\u00a0<strong>picos de escape<\/strong>\u00a0menores\u00a0nas\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nuclear-power.com\/nuclear-engineering\/thermodynamics\/what-is-energy-physics\/\">energias<\/a>\u00a00,511 e 1,022 MeV abaixo do fotopico para a cria\u00e7\u00e3o de\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nuclear-power.com\/nuclear-power\/reactor-physics\/interaction-radiation-matter\/interaction-gamma-radiation-matter\/pair-production\/\">pares el\u00e9tron-p\u00f3sitron<\/a>\u00a0quando um ou ambos os f\u00f3tons de aniquila\u00e7\u00e3o escapam e um\u00a0<strong>pico de retroespalhamento<\/strong>\u00a0.\u00a0Energias mais altas podem ser medidas quando dois ou mais\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nuclear-power.com\/nuclear-power\/reactor-physics\/atomic-nuclear-physics\/fundamental-particles\/photon\/\">f\u00f3tons<\/a>\u00a0atingem o sofre v\u00e1rias intera\u00e7\u00f5es, mas para energias intermedi\u00e1rias a dispers\u00e3o de comptons domina.\u00a0Na dispers\u00e3o compton, o f\u00f3ton de raios gama incidente \u00e9 desviado atrav\u00e9s de um \u00e2ngulo angle em rela\u00e7\u00e3o \u00e0 sua dire\u00e7\u00e3o original.\u00a0O f\u00f3ton transfere uma parte de sua energia para\u00a0<strong>o el\u00e9tron de recuo<\/strong>.\u00a0A energia transferida para o el\u00e9tron de recuo pode variar de zero a uma grande fra\u00e7\u00e3o (E m\u00e1xima) da energia incidente de raios gama, porque todos os \u00e2ngulos de dispers\u00e3o s\u00e3o poss\u00edveis.\u00a0O tamanho do cristal de cintila\u00e7\u00e3o altera a propor\u00e7\u00e3o entre o fotopico e o continuum de Compton.\u00a0Para um detector esf\u00e9rico infinitamente grande, centralizado em torno de uma fonte, nenhum f\u00f3ton seria capaz de escapar e apenas um fotopico seria visto no espectro.\u00a0Para detectores muito pequenos, a chance de um f\u00f3ton sair ap\u00f3s a dispers\u00e3o de Compton \u00e9 alta e o continuum de Compton seria grande em compara\u00e7\u00e3o com o fotopico.<\/p>\n<h2>Compton Edge<\/h2>\n<p>A borda de Compton \u00e9 uma caracter\u00edstica do espectr\u00f3grafo resultante da dispers\u00e3o de Compton no cintilador ou detector.\u00a0Esse recurso \u00e9 devido aos f\u00f3tons que sofrem dispers\u00e3o de Compton com um \u00e2ngulo de dispers\u00e3o de 180 \u00b0 e escapam do detector.\u00a0Quando um raio gama se espalha pelo detector e escapa, apenas uma fra\u00e7\u00e3o de sua energia inicial pode ser depositada na camada sens\u00edvel do detector.\u00a0Depende do \u00e2ngulo de dispers\u00e3o do f\u00f3ton, quanta energia ser\u00e1 depositada no detector.\u00a0Isso leva a um espectro de energias.\u00a0A energia da borda de Compton corresponde ao f\u00f3ton retroespalhado total\u00a0<strong>.\u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0As contagens entre a borda de Compton e os fotopicos s\u00e3o causadas por v\u00e1rios eventos de dispers\u00e3o de Compton, onde o f\u00f3ton gama disperso sai do material sens\u00edvel.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"lgc-column lgc-grid-parent
